About me

Psychotherapy that aims to change our life is no ‘quick fix’. It is successful when the relationship between a seasoned psychotherapist and a dedicated client works. If you are struggling with an issue or situation in your life, I can help support you as you sort things out.  I do this by providing a safe environment where you can clarify your feelings and thoughts.  We then work together to determine the changes you can make to improve your life.

Your job is to come forward, talk as open and honestly as possible, in order to keep moving forward within yourself. If you wish, tell me your dreams. My job is to listen (and keep listening) and offer you my thoughts, ideas, intuitions and guidance. In these ways we'll bring to light the unconscious life-themes that work against you and access the wisdom of your body and mind to outgrow stubborn patterns.

Most of the people I see are adults, but I do occasionally see adolescents.  Many of my clients are having issues with anxiety, depression, relationships or just the everyday challenges of living.

If you seek marriage counseling or therapy with children I am able to refer you to a colleague.

My background includes over 8 years of experience in group and individual counseling.

I received my M.A. in Counseling Psychology (with an emphasis in Depth Psychology) from Pacifica Graduate Institute.

I received my B.A. in Psychology from San Francisco State University.

My Approach

We all have a unique life to live and a unique Self needing to develop and evolve.
When our natural development is blocked psychological symptoms appear:

  • Long-lasting sadness or irritability

  • Extremely high and low moods

  • Excessive fear, worry or anxiety

  • Social withdrawal

  • Dramatic changes in eating or sleeping habits

Symptoms can surface as a signal that our psyche has become unbalanced or ill-suited for our present day reality. I treat a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, relationship issues, job stress, grief and loss. I offer both long and short-term therapy.

My approach to the process of psychotherapy is very interactive and based on an integration of Jungian, psychodynamic, humanistic and relational psychology. One way of viewing this process is as a transformational journey undertaken within the safe matrix of a restorative relationship.  I believe that a therapeutic connection supports the transformation of old behavior patterns into new and healthier patterns of behavior. I believe that a therapeutic connection has the potential to inspire the psyche to renew and regenerate itself in the deepest and most elemental layers of our existence.

Depth psychotherapy is a spiritual endeavor, as well as, a psychological one. Our goal is to liberate the spirit (which wants to grow) from its prison cell (grown out of fear) into a healthy place. The journey might be hard work, but it can also be playful and humorous.

In my practice most clients feel supported and unburdened. Gradually they notice their ‘sense of being’ expands. They feel a broader range of emotional responses, a lessening of feeling lost, ease repetitive symptoms, with increased freedom to love and work. Life begins to feel like a creative adventure.
